Lime Stabilisation

Lime is an effective additive for plastic soils improving both workability and strength.

Lime Stabilisation at Warwick - Click to enlarge (53KB)Stabilisation with lime can be used to achieve:

  •  Modification of material.

  •  Reduced plasticity.

  •  Improved workability.

  •  Strength gain.

  •  Improved grading.

  •  Reduced sensitivity to moisture.

  •  Different Compaction properties.

  •  Improved permeability.

Practical applications of this can include: Lime Stabilisation at Warwick - Click to enlarge (41KB)

  •  Improvement of subgrade materials into sub-base materials, or sub-base materials to base materials.

  • Reduction in required pavement depths.

  • Drying out of wet materials.

  • Providing of suitable work platforms

Lime stabilisation can then therefore be used in:

  • Basecourse stabilisation.
Modification of marginal material to bring within specification or performance requirements.
